JUNE BLOG

Hello Everyone,

Welcome to the final half term of this academic year. It promises to be another busy end to the year. We welcome Abby Deeks to the One Cumbria Team. Abby will be the Development Lead for our Teaching School Hub and will have the remit for developing our wider offer and making the most of all the talent we have in our One Cumbria alumni. Abby will also support work across ITT, ECF and NPQs. Abby has a wealth of knowledge and experience working in secondary schools and complements our team well. We are very much looking forward to working with her.

Best wishes,

Tina

NPQ UPDATE

NPQ UPDATE – APPLICATIONS NOW OPEN FOR AUTUMN 2024

National Professional Qualifications – One Cumbria | Cumbria teaching School Hub | Teaching School Hub | Teaching Jobs Cumbria

One Cumbria is planning to deliver the full suite of Teach First NPQs in Autumn 2024, including the new NPQ for SENCOs.

The DfE have announced that NPQ funding from Autumn 2024 will now be targeted to those teachers and leaders working in the most challenging schools or educational settings, serving more disadvantaged communities.
Therefore, funding to cover the full NPQ cost will only be available to teachers and leaders from the 50% of schools with the highest proportion of students who attract pupil premium funding. Comparative disadvantage measures will be applied for Early Years and 16-19 educational settings.

If you would like to know if your school falls into the 50% of schools with the highest proportion of students who attract pupil premium funding, please contact us by emailing Fiona Davidson DAVIDSONF@onecumbria.education, who will be able to check the list and let you know.

There are different criteria for the NPQs below. Funded places will continue to be available to all teachers and leaders from publicly funded schools and settings for the following NPQs:

  • Leading Primary Maths
  • SENCO
  • Headship
  • Early Headship Coaching Offer

For October 2024, the DfE have committed to funding up to 10,800 places in total. This encompasses the full suite of NPQs and individuals from both groups outlined above.
For full details, visit Funding for national professional qualifications (NPQs) – GOV.UK (www.gov.uk)
The costs for those not able to access a funded place have been provided by Teach First below.

Please note that applications cannot be progressed further at this stage and therefore no offers or guarantees regarding funding can be made, but your application will be reviewed and held in a queue. Applications will need to remain on hold until the DfE confirm the number of funded places Teach First have been awarded in June 2024 and we will then be in a position to move forwards with offers.

ONE CUMBRIA APPROPRIATE BODY UPDATE

Please ensure all assessment reports and progress reviews are completed by 1st July 2024.

If this is a formal assessment period then the Headteacher will also need to log in to Mosaic and complete the Headteacher comment.

If your ECT is completing induction in the summer term and we receive their report by 1st July, they will receive their completion letter at school before the end of term.

If you cannot access Mosaic, please contact the AB Lead, Jacqui Wilson, at WILSONJ@onecumbria.education
