Welcome back

Welcome back to a brand new term -let’s hope it is not too long before we start to see signs of Spring!

A reminder of what is happening in January

Year 1 Induction for our January 23 starters.

Year 2 seminars for those who are in Year 2 of the ECF Programme.

Year 1 seminars for those who started the ECF in April 2022 and September 2022. (Module 3).

Colleagues from our local STEM partnership will be present at our Year 2 seminars to talk about STEM opportunities for ECTs.

CALLING ALL SMALL SCHOOLS!

We are aware that delivering the ECF in small schools is not always easy, but there are some schools who like to meet the challenges head on and can see the positive impact the programme has for their school.

We would like to carry out a case study on ECF implementation in small schools. Would you like to be involved?

Please contact Tina at BEDDOET@onecumbria.education if you would like to be involved. Tina will visit you at school and write up the case study – all you need to do is talk!

OPPORTUNITY FOR ALL TEACHERS!

SHINE’s Let Teachers SHINE 2022/23 funding competition is now open to any qualified, practising teacher working in England.

Teachers who have an innovative idea to help raise the attainment of children from disadvantaged backgrounds in the North of England can apply for a grant of up to £25,000 over two years. The deadline for applications is Monday, 16th January 2023.

We’re especially interested in projects that link to core subjects (maths, English, science), but you might want to trial an approach that connects different areas of the curriculum or supports students pastorally. We’re focused on raising the attainment of socio-economically disadvantaged children living in the North of England, and we’re looking for ideas that can be shared to have a larger impact over time. The grant can be used towards paying for some of your time to work on the project, allowing you think through and refine the idea.

The application process is relatively short and straightforward, and you can find more details about what you can and can’t apply for here: Let Teachers SHINE Application Guidelines – SHINE (shinetrust.org.uk)

Finally a reminder for ECTs to complete the Teach First Winter Survey:

The ECT Winter Survey is available on Brightspace for all 2021 and 2022 September starters to complete. (Not for those ECTs who started in January or April).

The survey should be completed by ECTs directly in Brightspace, as part of Module 3 for the 2022 cohort and Development Cycle 3 for the 2021 cohort. ECTs will need to complete the survey (or opt out) in order to access the rest of the content for this module.

Teach First have created the below guides about how to access the survey and the rest of the content for the module.

How to Access and Submit the Survey on Brightspace – 2022 Cohort

How to Access and Submit the Survey on Brightspace – 2021 Cohort

Please complete the survey  – 2021 and 2022 September start programme members completing the survey will be entered into a draw to win one of two £50 Amazon vouchers.
